THE PINK EYE RESEARCH CENTER (PERC)
In 1961, two scouts from Camp Hoof were caught in a flood on the Buffalo River outside of Po’Dunk, Arkansas. Their canoe was lodged against a tree and the waters rapidly rose around them. It seemed like certain doom until they were pulled ashore by a large creature with glowing pink eyes. Their encounter would introduce the world to Po’Dunk’s resident cryptid, The Pink Eye.
Sightings would rise throughout the seventies and continue to this day. Witnesses describe it as a giant hominid with bright pink eyes that stalks the night time woods around Po’Dunk and The Hereafter. It’s been the star of film and television, most notably starring in the THE NIGHT OF THE PINK EYE series.
Lost Comfort General Store owner Bertrum Strom had his own encounter with the creature in 2011. Inspired by the sighting he’d add The Pink Eye Research Center to the establishment in 2020. It is the most expansive library of evidence on the creature ever compiled. All in a 12x by 20ft stone shed.
You might not find answers in The Pink Eye Research Center, but you will find a mystery.
And that’s more fun anyways.
THE NIGHT OF THE PINK EYE FILM SERIES
In 1973 the rest of the country would be introduced to the Po’Dunk cryptid in the drive-in classic NIGHT OF THE PINK EYE. Arkansas Filmmaker, Bob Corn, had been interested in making a Bigfoot picture after seeing the success of the Pink Eye’s southern cousin in Boggy Creek. He would discover the tale of the two lost Camp Hoof Scouts saved by the creature and use it for the basis of his film. The movie would be enough of a success to earn two sequels. Though competing visions would cause the series to veer between young boy’s adventure stories and a violent cult favorite slasher.
