Events and General About Town-ness

October is almost done! I’ve had a pretty packed one given the track and trade of being a ghost story guy. So this is just one of those compilation posts of where to find me!

WE ALWAYS LIE TO STRANGERS: WE ALWAYS LIE ABOUT BIGFOOT

First off- we wrapped up our WALTS miniseries on the history of Bigfoot in the Ozarks (or more specifically of Bigfoot Hunters in the Ozarks) Four episodes covering the history of some regional figures like Smokey Joe to a modern day fracas between the Park Service and Bigfooters. It’s a lot of fun, and I did a pretty silly amount of research on some very silly topics. Though forewarning, it runs a lot more crass than what you’ll find of me elsewhere. I think that’s some kind of rule of podcasting. You can find a few different links to it here.

They put it in the papers that I'm a Lost fan.

Dustin Staggs included Backwood Folk #2 in an October Author Round Up for the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Really lovely write up as well. He interviewed me earlier in the month on some of the inspirations that built out the world of Po’Dunk. Especially in regards to what informs Lilian Vaughan. And yes he got me to talk about Lost and The Leftovers, a rare occurence, don’t listen to what the group texts in my life say. He interviewed me previously on issue one as well! Always a pleasure!

Back On Television

Whispers in the Holler, a new local show covering Arkansas history had me on their October episode! Jason Suel interviewed me at Pinpoint in Downtown Fayetteville on a whole host of things about my work and its relation to regional folklore and cryptozoology. I also say some controversial things about the Ozark Howler that will get me yelled at by at least a few people I know personally. They also interview Brandon Weston and Sean Fitzgibbon! Both wonderful folks and sources of info.

Jason previously interviewed me on his late night program Later with Jason Suel!

(also while there’s a decent amount of my artwork in here there’s also some generated imagery. Just to clarify in case of confusion, I didn’t have a hand in the AI imagery and my work doesn’t include it at any point in my process. Still never touched the stuff.)

Back with the Hobbits of West Fork

Well Saturday the 25th got rained out. So Shire Fest has moved to November 8th! Always one of the most fun events I do each year, and the folks down at Shire Post Mint are really one of the coolest corners of the area. It’s a totally free event with something to offer everyone, and man it’s just a great time. I’ll be there with my comics and four new prints! That’s right, I’m doing prints again! But only at events for the time being since I still hate shipping prints. So you’ll have to drop by to see them. Though you might get distracted by the other cool artists and creators there too.

That’s all for now. But as always, there’s more to come.

Till later days, keep safe and sturdy.
