THE PO'DUNK ACCESS
Welcome to the Po’Dunk Access. This is a dedicated website for the community of Po’Dunk, Arkansas to showcase their lives and stories. Think of it as a small online museum of our charming little hamlet in the hills. Whether you’re from here or from afar, we welcome you to stick around awhile.
Po’Dunk can hardly be labeled as a town. In fact, our longest lived members of this community can’t put a finger on the population. Ask a local and you’ll find answers ranging from a dozen to a hundred. Po’Dunk is just like that, a place of half truths and partial fictions. What is safe to say is that Po’Dunk is located in Arkansas, and even safer to say it is in Newton County. To be just a little more precise, if you follow a select dirt road off Scenic Seven you might just get there.
But only just might, because no one agrees on which dirt road.
PO'DUNK PEOPLE
DiDi Reyes of the Lost Comfort General Store recently began an audacious new series to document our small community. Po’Dunk People is her continuing project to capture portraits of all of our residents. Every Sunday she has set out upon the community center Farmer’s Market with a stool and a tripod to take pictures. “This only works on the social sorts,” she says. So sometimes, DiDi even packs up her camera and hoofs it into the woods to greet and document many in our hermit community. When asked if any greet her with suspicion or anger, “Oh, sometimes. Often really. But usually they just miss having company.”
THE PINK EYE RESEARCH CENTER
Po’Dunk is host to numerous tall tales, myths, and legends. Though there are none more prominent than that of the Pink Eye, our resident cryptid. Stories describe it as a giant hominid with bright pink eyes that stalks the night time woods of the Ozarks. It’s been the star of film and television, even netting its own episode of In Search Of.
The Lost Comfort General Store capitalized on the monster’s popularity by adding The Pink Eye Research Center to its establishment. It is the most expansive library on the creature ever compiled. All in a 12ft x 20ft stone shed.
Don’t worry, this leaves plenty of room for Po’Dunk’s other boogers and haunts to be represented. You’ll also be able to locate material on Po’Dunk’s supposedly immortal goat, Hieronymus. There’s even some material on the ghostly Wild Woman, a presence that’s been seen in Po’Dunk for over century.
You might not find answers in The Pink Eye Research Center, but you will find mystery.
And that’s more fun anyways.
